Project Intro
Leaf is the chair created by Arper and designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, 2005. An exclusive and durable chair with sled base made in painted steel rod. Its captivating and original design is particularly suitable for indoor and outdoor spaces. A collection inspired by nature with a concrete focus on environmental impact.
Problem
Total respect for the design concept, optimise the entire production process. Identify an alternative outdoor painting process in line with customer’s needs.
Solution by F+M
Study and developing of a special equipment to improve production efficiency and introducing a high degree of modularity. The aim was to find an optimal level of production to make the manufacturing process neither too industrial nor too artisanal.
Spot welding made it possible to fully respect the design concept and give the Leaf seat a clean and minimal look. Being an outdoor chair, it was necessary to study a performing painting process – specific for outdoor environments – that would pass all corrosion tests.
